so..............here we are A DECADE
has passed. I'm not sure where the time went.
I could write about Dimitri's no-so-easy entry into the world, the trials and tribulations of development, not enough development, diagnosis, prognosis, progress, not enough progress etc.
But today there is no need, I'm just glad we are here.
Yesterday Dimitri was reading the Sunday supplements,, I found him hovering over a picture of a wooden puzzle like those he has used in the past. I showed him the next page and pointed out Rikos, Marilena's son, who took part in an article about autism. Dimitri has his finger pressed on the picture of Riko, who he has met a few times.
Today our celebrations will be quite, understated, and will pass with no particular fanfare (although we will be consuming cake). I've no doubt I will be looking at Dimitri's baby pics, and although I miss all the years that pass, the baby and toddler stages, and sometimes wish they had lasted just a little longer, I also loved and love seeing Dimitri grow into this fine young boy. We are exactly where we should be.

Wishing you all three the very best. Your post made me feel so sentimental-could be the theanine effect as well. When will winter and rain be over so that we meet again..
many hugs and kisses.
Happy Birthday Dimitri -- I hope you both have a wonderful day! Louise
Happy, happy birthday Dimitri, with a huge hug and plenty of cake!
I feel sentimental on reading your post as well. Love the baby photo, oh my.
Hope you are having a lovely, lovely day. Would it be ok if I brought a present 'from' Charlie for Dimitri, to deliver when I'm in Greece (!!!??!).
Happy birthday, Dimitri! Oh my goodness he was such an adorable little baby! I hope you have a wonderful day, lots of fun and love and some super delicious cake! Sending you lots of birthday love!
Marilena - thank you, hope we will be able to meet up soon, (Dimitri is enjoying the rain, must be the English blood). It was funny, Dimitri's finger remained attached to the picture of Riko for ages (it was a good article by the way)
Bloom - thanks Louise, it was a great day!
Kristina - I've been getting very sentimental lately, got some old videos out yesterday. New born babies look like little aliens :).
Dimitri would love a present from Charlie!!:) Although I should warn you Dimitri loves the unwrapping as much as the present.
Erika - thank you, I think he was adorable too (completely unbiased of course). Too much cake!
Presents from anywhere and everywhere would probably do.
Loved Dimitri's baby photo: he looked like SUCH a prizefighter!
Ηappy birthday!! :)
Adelaide - your right - he does look like a prize fighter! :)
Athanasia - thank you!
Happy, happy birthday to wonderful Dmitri. And to you!
Elizabeth - thank you!
