Accessible Shopping Areas (not)

Choosing a school bag
Sunday we took a trip down to our local shopping area in Peristeri, the weather was warm and sticky, so we didn't venture further afield as the heat and light makes Dimitri go into "I'm melting I'm melting" behaviour mode. He checked out some school bags. He is not responsible for the smashed door (replaced by that white board).

This is the main shopping area. Ahem, pedestrian shopping area. Usually there are more bikes and cars, parked and in motion. However, the city council has a new plan to defeat the vehicular violation.
Voila. Nice Bollards
Disabled access

These bits are designated for pushchairs and wheelchairs. Dimitri thinks they are for practicing his skills at "ducking".

size matters?

Hubby conveniently demonstrating width between bollards. People with crutches and walking frames obviously have no need or desire to shop or go out for a coffee.

Nice idea, the traffic really does need to be stopped in what is supposed to be a pedestrian area, but seriously, who comes up with these "solutions". Christos commented that the appearance of the bollards mysteriously coincides with local elections, hmmm. And this is not the first attempt to place barriers, they  keep appearing, are found to be ineffective, disappear, only to be replaced by some other hare-brained scheme. May be it is some kind of job creation scheme? As I can only assume is the placement and removal every few months of the decorative fairy lights strung about all over the place. I mean, who minds their taxes being spent on badly thought out ideas and fairy lights?
