So, last night, there I was somewhat hopefully drying an mp3 player with the hairdryer. Yes, well, that didn't work. Dimitri had rather nonchalantly dropped it into the (full of water) bathtub as he passed by. I was not so nonchalant as I said "well that's the last one your getting" (10th?, 11th?). Dimitri frowned and pulled a sad face. This morning he was positively cross when, after his request, I said it was broken. Luckily he was assuaged with a croissant.
Last Friday when I met up with Kristina, she had mentioned getting a waterproof case for the iPad(?), I guess should have been paying more attention. Although it's not the first mp3 player that's met with a watery end (and at least it wasn't the toilet), I was starting to think we had passed that stage. So it goes.
This may be of interest to some, there are now keyguards for the iPad, specific to some AAC programs, you can find the info at Teaching Learners with Multiple Special Needs.
This morning when I got up I nearly fell over sideways. I've reached that age where you need to sit for a minute after waking before attempting anything more daring. I also woke up with books about UFOs merrily buzzing away in my head, which is probably meaningless to most people, but possibly means I need to go and fight of my mid-life crisis with a big stick. So it goes.

Yes. So it goes. Mid-life crises appear to be going round and round, as it goes.
Elizabeth - I'm not sure if it's mid-life crisis or a never ending series of mini-crises. Could be worse, at least this crisis is only in my head.
I habitually walk into walls and door frames but I don't think it has to do with my age... it's probably sleep deprivation and dying brain cells. And don't even get me started on the weird dreams I'm waking up to. So it goes is my favorite phrase lately :)
Erika - I've always had a problem with door frames, cupboard doors and even lamp posts, with no real excuse at all. The falling over in the morning is new:). Lack of sleep and weird dreams, yuk, I'm really hoping things are improving.
Not quite related, but a couple of years ago I wanted to read hocus pocus again, bought a new copy, left it on the floor next to the bed and the cat peed on it. So it goes?
Ah, 'midlife' has great meaning to me as I am midst it but feel like I'm running fast into 'late life'. As 'they' say, growing old(er) is better than the alternative.
I agree with erika that her issues are not likely to do with age. But for all my Friends here I suggest attention be paid to the flux of hormones in 'midlife'. When the 'flux' turns 'flat', well, I consider that a good thing. ;)
Barbara
TherExtras - hi Barbara, I'd conveniently forgotten about the hormones, probably won't be too devastated when they stop playing havoc:)
here's the case!

sorry I just read this now----I've been meaning to write, talking to you was lots of fun/relaxing! I promptly came down with yet another cold but I think it's almost over.
I'm quite a klutz in the classroom; after spending with my students, they are even more aware of how distracted I can!
kristina - Dimitri has been sick too, back to school this morning (which is why I'm at the computer so early), spring viruses?
Sort of almost decided to get the iPad 2, when they have them in stock here that is, so a case will be needed! Dimitri still keeps asking for the mp3 player, he likes to have a selection of devices...
Distracted:) I like that word, I also liked my distracted tutors as they were invariably more interesting as they wandered off on tangents.
Also had so much fun chatting!!! I do wander if what I say actually makes sense though due to the rambling...
It all made sense (sorry I'm only responding after, what is it, two weeks?).
Did you get the iPad2?
Charlie was walking around with his iPad in a drizzle this morning (he was up at 4am and we did a walk to pass some of the time before school) and it seems to have survived getting a bit wet all right. But I'm still hoping for a really waterproof case!
Kristina, haven't got the iPad yet, I need to check if it's in stock, I've been kind of on another planet of late.
The lifeproof case looks amazing, waterproof to a depth of 2m!!! I saw a fancy new "special needs" case for the iPad, about 200 dollars which I think is taking the piss a bit http://www.amdi.net/store/iadapter.html
Ages ago when I was checking out tablets that run on Windows, discovered the "hardiest" tablet computers are used in places like hospitals, building sites or for military use(of course). The hospital ones were great as specially designed for frequent screen cleaning, which would be great for us:) the products are around but not for the general public:(
water proof case for i-pad...
that suits me : ]
